On 23 August 2017, Ms. Jane Connors of Australia was appointed as the first Victims’ Rights Advocate at the level of Assistant Secretary-General and assumed her duties on 15^th September. She is working to ensure that the rights and dignity of victims are at the forefront of all elements of the UN system-wide response to sexual exploitation and abuse, and that policies, tools and implementation of all parts of the Secretary-General’s strategy implement a victim-centred approach. On the ground, she is supported by Victims’ Rights Advocates in four peacekeeping missions (MINUJUSTH, MINUSCA, MONUSCO, and UNMISS).
