Text

On 23 August 2017, Ms. Jane Connors of Australia was appointed as the first Victims’ Rights Advocate at the level of Assistant Secretary-General and assumed her duties on 15th September. She is working to ensure that the rights and dignity of victims are at the forefront of all elements of the UN system-wide response to sexual exploitation and abuse, and that policies, tools and implementation of all parts of the Secretary-General’s strategy implement a victim-centred approach. On the ground, she is supported by Victims’ Rights Advocates in four peacekeeping missions (MINUJUSTH, MINUSCA, MONUSCO, and UNMISS).
