Launch of the Risk Management Toolkit

Text

In March 2018, the Departments of Peacekeeping Operations and Field Support disseminated the new Sexual Exploitation and Abuse Risk Management Toolkit to peace operations. The toolkit developed with the generous support of the United Kingdom Government, is a critical mechanism to support peace operations in addressing sexual exploitation and abuse by their personnel in a proactive and comprehensive fashion. It helps them better manage the significant risks associated with sexual exploitation and abuse. Primarily intended for use by conduct and discipline practitioners in UN peace operations, it provides guidance in the form of a conceptual framework as well as practical tools and activities to identify, assess and address risks.

The toolkit was the subject of a workshop which gathered Chiefs of Conduct and Discipline from thirteen peacekeeping and special political missions on 15 and 16 May 2018. It was also presented to Member States on 5 June 2018, in a launch event which was attended by representatives of over 60 Member States and UN entities from the Secretariat, Funds and Programmes.
