In January 2017, Secretary-General António Guterres appointed a nine-member task force from a range of United Nations offices to improve the United Nations' approach to preventing and responding to sexual exploitation and abuse. The task force, led by Jane Holl Lute who is the special coordinator for improving the organization's response to sexual exploitation and abuse, was requested to present ideas for how to improve how the United Nations reacts to allegations, how victims are put at the center, and how accountability is ensured.
